Mary Spencer, President Board of Directors and Particular Council Mary joined the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1998 as a home visitor with St. Andrew’s Conference. For 10 years she volunteered at the Social Concern office before chairing the Social Concern Committee for 3 years. Mary went on to become Vice President of the Board for 3 years before taking on the role of President in 2006. In 2005 Mary joined the Board of St. Andrew’s Housing Society as a director representing SSVP. Mary retired in 1995 after 26 years in Retail Sales and Administration. Most of that employment was for T.E. Eaton Company here in Victoria. Prior to joining SSVP she served for 8 years on The Employees Charitable Fund at Eaton’s Department Store and also served on the Board of The United Way for 6 years. Mary attends most committee meetings in an ex-offico capacity and chairs the National AGA 2011 committee. |

Diane Pearson, Vice President Board of Directors and Particular Council Diane joined the Society 1997 as a home visitor with St. Andrew’s Conference. She held the position of Conference President for 7 years before taking on the role of National Board Secretary to the SSVP Council of Canada for two years. Diane has been the Vice President of the Board and Particular Council since 2006. Diane is a registered Social Worker and is employed as a part time women’s counselor in Victoria. She also has experience in finance and management and maintains the position of Office Manager with a local business in Victoria. Diane serves as chair of both the Advocacy committee and the Social Concern committee. |

Rob DiCastri C.A., Treasurer Board of Directors and Particular Council Rob obtained his BA in Business Administration at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC, and his CA at Ernst & Young in Vancouver. He then worked with Ernst and Young in Canada, Australia and the Middle East as a senior management consultant and auditor. He also spent 8 years as Chief Financial Officer of a fractional jet startup company in the Middle East - a franchise of Warren Buffet's Net Jets program - taking it to full airline status. He has spent the last 2+ years as CFO of the Aviawest Resort Group - a Vancouver Island based group of companies in the resort industry.He has volunteered in many capacities over the years, donating tax services to the elderly and the poor, holding the treasurer position in a business advocacy group and chairing the finance committee of a private school. He has also audited and worked with a number of societies and their boards of directors, and currently hold board positions on a number of companies.Rob joined the Society's Finance Committee in November 2009 and accepted the position of Society Treasurer the following year. His expertise and qualifications have strengthened the board’s financial governance and strategic planning. He currently lives in Shawnigan Lake with his wife and three children. |

Joanne Leigh, Secretary Board of Directors Joanne has been a member and Home Visitor of the Society since 1997. During her years with the Society she has been Our Lady of Rosary’s Conference Dispatcher (5 years), the Conference Secretary (3 years), Particular Council and Board Secretary for 4 years and most recently accepted the position of Board Secretary for another term. Joanne brings a compassion for the struggle of the working poor families to the Board discussion. She has been retired for 14 years from Royal Trust, now the Royal Bank (mortgages and loans). Joanne supports all programs and currently serves on the Archives Committee. |

Peter Yearwood, Director Peter has been a member and home visitor of St. Elizabeth’s Conference since 1990. He has taken on many roles within the Society over those 20 years most importantly he was the Society Treasurer for many years. Peter’s contribution to the financial security of the Society is well known. He was instrumental in the management of the building of St. Vincent de Paul Centre and the subsequent successful fundraising program. Peter has vast experience in many financial and management areas. He obtained his FCCA from the United Kingdom and his CGA in both Alberta and BC. Peter is retired from his position as the Chief Internal Auditor for Petro Canada.Peter is interested in all areas of the Society and currently serves on the Finance Committee. |
| Gloria McLaren, Director Gloria joined the Society as a home visitor with Holy Cross Conference in 2007. She was the dispatcher for 2 years before becoming a Board Member in 2009. Gloria obtained her professional designation of CCHRA(C) (Certificate Canadian College of Health Record Administrators). Gloria is now retired from her career as a health record administrator for the Vancouver Island Health Authority. Gloria brings an interest in all areas of the Society programs and is an advocate for the twinning program that Holy Cross supports in Columbia as well as the working poor of our community. |

Kathy Weswick, Director Kathy has been with the Society for over 20 years. She is a member of the Sacred Heart Conference where she has been a home visitor since she joined and on the conference executive for two years. Kathy has been a board member for four years and was the President of the Society from 1999 until 2003. Under Kathy's direction the Society grew to four conference in northern Vancouver Island, adding Port Alberni and Campbell River. In addition, she oversaw the building and opening of St. Vincent de Paul Centre on Yates street.She retired from her profession as a Registered Nurse and is currently on the Constitution and Bylaw, Nomination, Strategic Planning and Archive Committees. Kathy is also the National Twinning Chairperson for Canada. |

Maureen Dietrich, Director Maureen joined the Society through the Sacred Heart Conference as a home visitor. She has accepted the roles of conference secretary and now for the past nine years Conference President. In addition to her role at the conference, Maureen has been a Board member for 7 years. Maureen spent 11 years as a Supervision and Team Leader and 15 years as a Human Resource Manager. She is retired from the Health Care field for 26 years. She is interested in all areas of the Society and is currently the chairperson for the Human Resources committee and a member of the archive committee. |

Bill Duncan, Director Bill became a member of Trinity Catholic in Nanaimo in 1966. Bill approached Father Oscar to ask the Parish join St. Peter's conference to help the St. Vincent de Paul Society. When he joined the Society, He was just a member. He never did home visits as he didn’t have any experience in doing visits. He realized that there was much more to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He asked to help do home visits. When the next election came along he was asked to stand as Vice- President. When the President of St. Peter's died in early 2009 he was nominated for President of the Conference. He is also a Board member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Vancouver Island and a delegate to the Particular Council of Vancouver Island.He has been involved in his community for many years. He served on the Planning board, Economic Development committee as chairman, Central Island Futures Committee, The Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, Regional District of Nanaimo and the Town of Ladysmith, Nanaimo Community Employment Advisory Society, Director of the Community Futures Development Corporation of Central Island, President Nanaimo Commonwealth Holding Society, and President of the Nanaimo NDP Association, Representative of the Federal NDP for BC President Local 508 LWU,Commissioner of the Nanaimo Harbour Commission. He also served on other community groups such as Nanaimo Heart & Stroke, United Way etc. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus council 9990 and served as Grand Knight.He is retired and has been for over 10 years. He was a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) for 35 years. Started the Van-Isle ILWU Pensioners Club 10 years ago and we Joined the Pacific Coast Pensioners Association (PCPA) at the same time. He sits on the Board of that International organization and served as Recording Secretary for two years.He believes that the North Island St. Vincent de Paul Society should form their own Particular Council and get involved more in the retail and other programs. |

Joe Rigby, Director Joe first joined the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul as a Chaplain in the United Kingdom in the early 1970's. After retirement he rejoined the Society through St. Elizabeth's Conference in Sidney around 2004.Joe has been a home visitor, Vice President, President and Chaplain to a Conference. He’s been a Board Member since 2005. Educated as a Roman Catholic Priest, Joe has held many positions within the Church: Pastor, Dean, and Chancellor of a Diocese. He has retired from a career as a priest and prison chaplain. Joe has special interest in affordable housing for the needy. He currently is the Board representative on the Major Projects Committee. |

Felix Gaudet, Director Felix has been a member of SSVP since 2003 through the Notre Dame Conference in Port Alberni. He has served the Society a home visitor, conference secretary for 2 years, conference treasurer for 4 years and has been on the Board of Directors for the last 3 years.He has retired after working 37 years at a Pulp and Peter Mill as a Steam Engineer.He is currently is on the Fundraising Committee, Home Visitors and Christmas Hampers Committees. |

Charles Hogg, Director Charles has been volunteering with the Society since 2005. He has been a Home Visitor, St. Andrew’s Conference Vice President, Board and Particular Council Member. His committee work has included Constitution and Bylaws, Youth, and Strategic Planning.He currently works as a professional librarian at the Legislative Assembly and works in volunteer organizations including British Columbia Library Association, UNBC Faculty Association, Homeward Housing Co-op Board.He has a Master of Library and Information Sciences.He is most interested in Retail and Ozanam and currently serves on the Constitution and by laws committee. |
| Morag Mochan, Director Morag has been a member of St. Patrick's Conference for the past two years. She was elected to the Board of Director in March, 2011 for a three year term. Morag is also a member of the Major Projects Committee. |
| Lucia Spurling, Director Lucia has been with the Society for five years. She has been a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish her entire life. She realized on Sunday morning that she knew very few of the parishioners and they did not know her, her husband, or their 4 children. Grant Croswell, Social Concern Program Manager was giving a talk about St.Vincent de Paul, so she signed up. She met the most wonderful group and enjoys working with them to take St Vincent de Paul into its next phase.She has a farming background and now runs a business with her husband. |
