Our Lady of the Rosary Conference formed in 1984 and aggregated in 1994. The Conference consists of 21 members, and of those six live in Sooke. All are ready to offer support when needed. The meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

"The members at Our Lady of the Rosary hope that as Vincentians, they have made someone's life a little less stressful by the food voucher, the furniture voucher, the friendly smile or just taking the time to listen in a non judgmental way."

--Joanne Leigh, President, Our Lady of the Rosary Conference

Over the last 5 years the community of Langford has grown both in population and employment opportunities. We have noticed quite a decline in requests for home visits. This past year we attended 102 visits to 57 families, and of those 37 families required only one visit. We recently visited a single Mom with three children who has four part time jobs. She somehow manages quite well and calls us only when absolutely necessary.

Our Lady of Rosary continues to twin with St. Mary's Conference in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As stated in their letters, the assistance sent quarterly is a great help to their very poor community.

The generous donations to St. Vincent de Paul from the parishioners, and those in Sooke, really are overwhelming. Members of the CWL and other ladies in the community knit over 100 toques, scarves and mitts, and provided dozens of socks to the Social Concern Christmas Program. For a second time, Pat Mulvey, one of the senior parish members, completed the 65K Great Lake Walk and donated his pledges to St. Vincent de Paul.
