Thank you for your Support!
You have made a difference to those in need in our community.
During 2009, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul throughout the Southern Vancouver Island area received and filled 25,213 requests for assistance through the Victoria Social Concern Office
In addition, our 127 Vincentian members provided 1,371 home visits to families, and assisted over 1,814 children in need.
100% of your donation goes to direct services that impact the lives of those individuals, families and children that request our help. Without your support and the support of our 320 volunteers who
provided 43,122 hours of donated time during 2009, the Society would not have been able to provide the following services:
- Distributed $385,000 in food and food vouchers and $158,135 in clothing, household, and furniture free of cost to those in need. This included over $205,900 worth of donated food from the community.
- Over $20,000 was spend on programs that address the challenges faced by women and youth in our community. Other services offered through the Social Concern Program include work training, life skills training,
income tax preparation, refugee support and an advocacy program.
- Provided $16,017 in emergency relief through payment of utility bills, rent, transportation to medical appointments, bus passes, etc.
- Provided $1,575,017 worth of low priced goods to the community through our five thrift stores. This would not be possible without your donations of gently used goods.
