Ozanam Centre

....For people with disabilities. Moving from dependence to independence...

Vision

We strive to help people move from dependence to independence to the fullness of their ability.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has served persons with developmental disabilities since 1967. In 1982, at the request of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the Frederic Ozanam Centre was established to provide specific programs, which would further enhance the services to the mentally and physically disabled such as a sheltered workshop and greenhouse program.

Today the facilities have evolved to better assist Community Support Workers and participants alike. Ozanam offers a range of day programs to people with various disabilities, all of which provide individual opportunity for continued growth, independence, self-fulfilment and integration into the community. We currently have 60 clients with a range of abilities and together with the Community Support Workers, participate in creating their own specialized program schedule.

The Centre also hosts several evening theme dances and a sports day each year in which other day programs, group homes, and centres are invited to attend.

The Ozanam Centre receives funds for operating its programs from Community Living BC. THANK YOU COMMUNITY LIVING BC!

Day Program Services

There are many programs offered in and out of the Centre according to the needs and goals of our program participants. Here are just a few:

Community Interaction & Outings

A component of the day program is our focus on community interaction. Most program participants are integrated into the community on a weekly basis. They explore a variety of venues that Victoria is well known for which include festivals, activity centres, current events, tours, libraries, parks and businesses of many different types.
